Happy Friday Peeps!!!

It's a rainy Friday here and that means two things....

1. The rain is quickly melting the snow away but more importantly

2. I am banned from going outside because when mom lets me out I like to go to the farthest corner of the yard and stand in the pouring rain while she ~~screams~~ calls my name to come in.

Ummm, she tends to forget that I'm a water dog and that does include rain!!!

Anywho! Remember my post about "the stench"? Well we have possibly discovered who's stink I was rolling around in.

Dad was having trouble getting Maggie to come in the house one night, he thought she was playing around with the cat.....

Yeah....that don't look like no cat! Eek!!!

Can you believe my silly sister was trying to play with a possum????

She couldn't understand why he was playing dead!!!

In The Kitchen

Yup, I spent the weekend in the kitchen, probably one of my favorite rooms in the house! You never know what goodies will happen to "fall" into your mouth!!

It started out as the perfect weekend, it was snowing...but since Maggie can't romp around in the snow with me it's just not as much fun so I decided to make her some biscuits to lift our spirits up!

Please don't laugh, I do it to please Mom....

Santa Paws gave us a box of biscuit mix, just pour it in the bowl, add water and a little bit of oil and let the mixer do the work!

Now roll it out and most importantly....

Give it a lick to make sure it's tasty!

Next, make sure you have a very cute sous chef to help you cut out the dog bone shapes, don't be afraid to give it a sniff...

Bake them in the oven and ~~patiently~~ wait for Mom to tell you they're done.

If you could only smells these delicious biscuits, I wonder if they taste as good as them smell...

Who says you have to wait for them to cool?!?! Maggie is going to LOVE these!!!

I think this is just what she needed!!

Happy Friday Peeps!!!!

We had a BIG surprise delivered to us last week! Mom said that Santa Paws couldn't fit it on his sleigh so he had it sent to our house!!

We just couldn't imagine what was inside the box!

We had to make sure it passed the sniff test...can you guess what it is???

A ginormous new BED!!!! Dad is telling us that we have to share it and that it's NOT a giant stuffie or chew toy.

Ummm, aren't we suppose to be testing it out???

Now that's better! I'm not so sure about this sharing rule but I will give it a try.

This is the perfect bed for Maggie, it's orthopedic memory foam so it is wonderful for her bad hip and joints.

Sweet dreams, Maggie....now move over!!!!

We should have known!!!

I thought mom was taking us in to pick out our OWN pressies but as soon as we turned the corner and I heard the buzzy sound I put the brakes on!

Does Santa Paws really care if we are groomed and smell good?!?!

Mom told us to think of it as a "spa" day. Really?!

After hours of being poked and prodded we were FINALLY done!

Dad gasped when he saw the bows in my hair. Tell me about it, how humiliating!!

Stop laughing!!! These bows are only going to last for another .2 seconds!

We are so exhausted that you will have to wait til tomorrow to see our Christmas goodies!

I've been thinking a lot lately about this past year. Have I REALLY been good? Good enough to get lots of pressies from Santa Paws????

I would really like to know the criteria he uses to decide between the naughty and good list. I personally think it should be based on a percentage and not the actual number of naughty things I've done. Right?!

I truly feel that 99.% of the time I have been ~~pretty~~ good, it's that 1% that has me shaking in my fur....that 1% I was ~~really~~ kinda naughty.

Mom always says that I have selective hearing....well maybe Santa has selective memory! BOL!!

Since we have to follow so many rules around here for Santa, I only hope he follows my one rule for him....

The Jar

Today is the day that we look forward to ALL month long......it's the day when we hear mom scraping the bottom of the PEANUT BUTTER jar, that sound is music to our ears and makes our whiskers water!

Today was a little different though, I was especially hungry and totally forgot all about the rules of sharing.

So I fled to my bed to get my p'butter fix...

...and then to the couch...

...and finally under the table.

Whats a girl gotta do to get a little privacy!!

Mom was super annoyed with me so after an hour of licking I decided to give Maggie a few licks of her own...

Silly dog doesn't even realize I licked the jar clean! BOL!

I'm just going to keep my eyes closed in hopes that mom will stop staring at me....

I know I forgot my manners today but it was worth every last lick!!!

Holiday Safety Tips for Your Pets

We received these safety tips from our Vet and wanted to share them with our furiends so we can all have a safe holiday!

Holiday Hazard		How to keep your pet safe
	Dangerous Foods		The following can be toxic to pets: chocolate, raisins, grapes, macadamia nuts, garlic, onion, alcohol, caffeinated beverages, bread dough, and sugar-free candy and gum containing the artificial sweetener xylitol.
	Regular Foods		Despite tradition, bones should never be given to pets. Even beef, ham, and other "regular" foods that are not considered toxic can cause illness in pets. If your pet is a moocher, keep a saucer of his regular treats on the table to offer when he asks. He probably won't know the difference!
	New Treats and Toys		Even a pet-safe treat can cause stomach upset if it is new to your pet. Offer only one of these at a time (ideally, separated by a few days). If your pet becomes ill after eating a holiday treat, it will be easier to trace the source and discontinue it. Also, check new toys for sharp edges, pieces that can be chewed off, or other potential hazards.
	Plants		Hazardous plants include mistletoe, some evergreens (including some types of pine), and holly bushes and berries. Try to keep these plants away from pets, or at least supervise pets when dangerous plants are nearby.
	Decorations		Tinsel, tree ornaments, ribbons, string, and garlands are some items that can be dangerous if eaten by pets. Keep these items away from pets — especially when pets are unattended. Don't forget to cover any electrical cords or keep them out of reach.
	Fire and Carbon Monoxide		Monitor pets near fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, candles, and portable heaters. Also, don't forget to check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are functioning properly. Space heaters, furnaces, and idling cars (in a garage) can increase the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning in pets and humans.
	Christmas Trees		Monitor your pets when they are around your holiday tree. Pets may eat the needles (even from artificial trees) or drink water from the base of the tree, which can be toxic (especially if there are preservatives in it). Keep electrical cords and decorative lights out of reach, too.

In case you didn't know Maggie and I have 2 human sisters, Kailey and Jordyn.

For those of you who have human sisters you know there isn't anything better than the pure love they give us each and every day! They are as happy to see us each morning as we are to see them.

We love how they cuddle, play, sneak us dinner scraps, how they always seem to leave their snacks around for us to finish up and how they try to sneak us into their beds at night.

BUT! There is one thing that drives us bonkers....TEASING! Let me tell you, they are pros! Is this what they are teaching in school because I don't remember them covering it in puppy kindergarten?!

They think it's hysterical as we sit there with our puppy dog eyes and ears, salivating at the thought of just getting a tiny taste.

I never did get a taste of that candy corn....

.... and Maggie never did get to see how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop.

But ya know what?

We wouldn't trade them in for the world.....not even a piece of candy.

Our New Slimy Friends

Hey furiends! How was your weekend?

Ours was boring, mom and dad were hardly home, they totally deserted us!

And when they did finally get home they brought us something. No, not a toy, stuffie or treats.

We haven't figured it out yet, but it has our curiosity sky high...especially Belle!

They are slimy, like to swim in circles and totally FREAK OUT if you put your nose to the glass! BOL!

First there were 4 then dad put 2 in the giant "bowl" of water and they went round and round till suddenly there were gone?!?!?!

So now there are just 2, we might as well give them a name because it looks like they will be sticking around unless Belle has something to do with it.

I did it, I REALLY did it this morning!

It was so much fun until I had to go inside....

It was POO!!!! All I know is, it wasn't mine or Maggie's.

I thought rolling around in it would give me a better idea of who's it was.

According to mom the stench was HORRIBLE and I was heading straight for the tub!

No dad, I don't know how I managed to get it all over every inch of me!

The Chipmunk

He's the bane of my existence. He is the reason I don't take my afternoon nap. He drives me B-A-N-A-N-A-S!!!

He sits on the pool deck and taunts me from inside the house here. Whenever mom hears me growl she knows it must be him...

Chomping away on helicopter seeds as if they were going out of style. Then he hops back down into his little hole.

His name is Chippy....Chippy the Chipmunk.

I don't want to eat him, honestly I don't....just a taste would satisfy me greatly.

The other day mom was so annoyed with my whinning and growling at the door that she let me at 'em! I took Maggie along figuring we could corner the lil' sneak! He loves to hide behind the deck box, I can hear him chewing away!

Mom say's I should read Sugar's new book, "Sugar's Furry Friend" and learn about Fred, the chipmunk and why he does the things he does.

Windows - everyone has them, right?! What are they for?? To look through OBVIOUSLY!

Yes, they get dirty from time to time. Is it our fault that we have cold, wet noses that may accidentally rub onto the window???? NOT OUR FAULT!!!

Here's MY list of some reasons for windows:

to watch out for pesky squirrels
be on the lookout for sneaky chipmunks
keep my eye out for the mailman and make sure mom knows when he's coming
of course the cute UPS guy who NEVER brings me bones
make sure anyone (human or furry) walking down the street knows that this is MY house
can't forget the neighborhood cats

As you will see we love our windows!

So, the next time you get in trouble for dirtying the windows just tell your human...

Howlween Postponed!!!!!

My Howlween has been POSTPONED, no Trick or Treating for us tonight!!!

Who has EVER heard of such a thing???? Many are still without power and lots of trees and wires are down because of the snow.

There IS a bright side to this, mom still gave us our treats tonight and we didn't have to get dressed up into silly costumes....yet. Instead we decided to show everyone our zombie eyes in hopes that mom will forget all about dressing us up...

I really wish "wait" would be banned in this house! It's extremely annoying when you have a sister who just doesn't get it!

Finally we get to dive in, me first of course...

and Maggie diving right in....who says dogs need thumbs?!

See, I taught her well...dessert first! Now I just have to teach her how to share!!!!

If you haven't been watching the tube lately, let me fill you in pups....we just had a ginormous snowstorm here in my neighborhood this weekend!!! Can you say craaaazyyyy????

It started Saturday afternoon with the biggest snowflakes you could only dream about! Mom let me out as soon as they started to fall and of course I had to practice my snow angels...

The Art of Swimming

Today we're going to wrap up our summer pics because guess what!?!?!? We are getting SNOW today!!!!! Its only going to be a couple inches but Maggie and I can't wait! This is going to be the kind of snow that turns the grass into a beautiful snowy/muddy mess - a perfect mix if you ask me!

So what kind of swimmer are you? Do you like to take a plunge like Maggie???

Or do you like to slowly get your paws wet and ever so gently glide into the water like me...

Do you dunk your head to get the toys under the water like Maggie?

Or do you just like to swim around and take every precaution not to get your head wet like me...

I am very content with just doing the doggie paddle around the pool...

Maggie on the other hand would much rather jump in and do tricks with dad...

As you can see she takes her pool diving very seriously! BOL!!!!

I know, I know it's been FUUUREVER since we have posted anything! ~~Mom~~ someone in this house has had a serious case of the lazies! For some reason, all that boring human stuff has to come before OUR fun.

Not to worry though, Maggie and I will have you caught up in no time!

As you can see in the background, I am still helping mom out in the gardens. That butterfly bush was just getting too darn big. Mom was so grateful...really, she always says that she wouldn't know what she would do without me!

Here we are helping scrub the yummy bits off the bottom of the pan before it heads for the washy monster.

After all the chores, I just love to chill with my stuffies...for as long as they will last anyway!

What?!? You didn't think I changed after all this time, did ya???

Rex Ryan has nothing on MY dad! That's right, you heard what I said! Rex Ryan has a foot fetish...well my Dad has an EAR fetish, not just any ears though....only mine!!!

Yes, I admit it! It's a fact in our house that my ears smell...from time to time. Did I ask anyone to smell them??? No! But dad insists that my ears NEED to be cleaned! He said we can do it the easy way (his way) or we can do it the hard way (the vets)...guess which one I picked!

me: Don't you just love this time of year when the leaves fall and mom and dad put them in a nice big pile for you to jump in? That's why they do it, right?!

myself: Yup! Look at Maggie playing hide n' seek in the leaves! What is she seeking?

me: My guess is, she is trying to seek ME!!!

myself: hmmm, where are you? In the leaves?

me: Nope, guess again!

myself: hiding in the bushes?

me: Wrong again....I'm in the house!!!!!

myself: Sweet Jesus!!! Why?

me: mom said I'm a flight risk (air quotes)....whatever I don't care to have leaves in places unknown anyways!

Guess what we did this weekend!!! Roasted some hot dogs…no not my sister silly!!! The edible kind, we roasted them over the fire!!!

We got a package in the mail today!!!! What could it be?????

It’s a skinneeez!!!!! From the nice people at Ethical Pet!!!!

Not only is it a skinneeez, but it’s a CHIPMUNK skinneeez, 24 inches long and the best part about it….NO STUFFING for mom to pick up!!!! The nice people for skinneeez sent us one and one for Belle to try it out!!! How nice of them!!!! They must have seen all the stuffies that I de-stuffed! BOL!!!!

“Stuffing free toy for long lasting play”, that’s what is says on the package, well we’ll just have to see about that!!! BOL!!!

Here is Belle with her’s, it’s from the barnyard and is filled with catnip!!!!

She loved it so much that she licked it to death!!! It’s the perfect size for her, she loves to flip it up in the air with her paws, and the catnip is just bonus!!!
Just don’t tell Belle that our toy is sooo much bigger and better!!!! BOL!!!
Do you want one too??? I’d share mine with you but….Just go surf the web, cuz they sell them everywhere, for only a few bones!!! For instance, you can get them at my mom’s favorite place Amazon.com, they know her by her first name, all she does is press a button and the guy in the big brown truck brings them right to our door!!! Seriously!!! They have raccoons, rabbits, skunks and even SQUIRRELS!!!! Give mom or dad your best puppy dog eyes and be super good and maybe just maybe that big brown truck will be at your house before you know it!!!!
p.s. 2 hours later they are still ~~sharing~~ playing with it, everything is in tact, even the squeakers!!! It’s a keeper!!!

Another Day at the Pool…

It started with a nice gentle plunge into the water by Maggie

and me taking a nice gentle step into the pool.

Maggie likes to splash and as you know I hate getting my head wet…

so I decided to ~~be a poor sport~~ get out ,when Maggie thought it was a good idea to take a bite out of my neck!!! See the abuse I go through, so glad mom had her camera for this one!

So I turned around and gave her my meanest tongue!!!

And she gave it right back to me with her “ I’ve got dad all to myself “ tongue. Whatever, I am not jealous that dad spends most of his time in the pool with you, giving you massages, puppy talk and letting you rest on the boogie board!

I am perfectly happy doing the doggie paddle all by myself!!!

Ya know why I love Sundays??? It’s the one day during the week when dad doesn’t have to work and he spends it with us!! And thanks to Maggie’s hip we got to swim as long as we wanted!!! And of course mom was there with the flashy thing to capture every moment…

Here I am ~~getting blown away by Maggie~~ racing Maggie to the flying squid…

slow and steady wins the race, right? Not when Maggie’s in the pool, I have to admit she IS a fast swimmer!

That’s right, I’m standing in the shallow end…

this is me barking at Maggie to get outta the water, I saw something that made my fur curl!!!! In case you didn’t know there have been MANY white shark “sightings” here in the northeast and I’m not taking any chances!!!!

Maggie decided she was going to play hero and go down under to investigate. Hey, I don’t like getting my head wet so it certainly wasn’t going to be me!!!

I’m giving Maggie a little pep talk and telling her one more dive under and she is OUT!!!

she found something, but what?!?! I knew I saw something!! Call the papers, get the news crews here, pull out the scale this is THE BIG ONE!!!!

so maybe I over reacted just a little….whatever! That princess looked MUCH LARGER under water, ok!

The First of Many…

Yesterday was Maggie’s first of many trips to the vet’s for her injection. I’ve told mom to use that word instead of shot, it doesn’t sound as harsh, just doesn’t have the “ouch” factor. So here she is on the ride there…this is one car ride I don’t mind missing…just sayin’

Poor Maggie’s tale was between her legs, she’s no dumb pup ya know she knew exactly where she was! I taught her well, sniff and investigate before going forward, BUT go forward like a brave powerful girl! You never know what’s waiting for you on the other side of those doors, whatever it is you certainly don’t want to look like a fool, so suck it up and put your best paw forward and it’ll all be over before you know it. And wouldn’t you know it mom said she did excellent, took her shot like a soldier and left with her head held high! Little does she know she has to do that 6 more times. shhhh

Of course after the vets you always have to make a pit stop at Petsmart. Here’s Maggie and dad picking out some vitamins and wouldn’t you know it they brought me home something!!!Yeah well it wasn’t a nice big juicy bone or squeaky toy or a stuffed squirrel…not very exciting but I will take what I can get!

Ok, alright I haven’t told you the whole story!! Geesh, I hate it when mom’s looking over my shoulder! The truth is Mom and Dad came home the other night with a nice comfy bed for Maggie to help with her hip. Where was mine?! I may not have bad hips but I do like comfy!!!

So here I am refusing to get out of Maggie’s crate, why mom always has the camera handy at these times, I will never understand…blackmail I’m guessing!

Here I am in my own crate with my OWN new bed. That’s my “ha ha very funny, mom” dirty look I like to give her…

Just wanted to send out a great big thank you to everyone for their wonderful comments about Maggie! Your advice and stories have helped us more than you know! We are feeling very optimistic about her future and the treatments that we have chosen.

*To answer everyone’s question: Yes, we immediately contacted the breeder…just trying to stay positive on this blog and I have nothing positive to say about that situation! Thank you for your concern.

Unexpected News…

For the past few weeks Maggie has been limping so we just thought maybe she has been playing a little too rough with Miley and somehow twisted something. So off to the vets she went and they thought it could either be lyme disease or her achilles tendon. Lyme test came back negative so they decided to keep her over night and do a complete x-ray exam in the morning.

Yesterday we received a call from the vet, the news was worse than we thought, her right hip is 3/4 out of the socket, she has hip dysplasia. Not only that, her right knee is in terrible shape with signs of arthritis. We were devastated and in shock to say the least. How could this happen to an 8 month old puppy? They believe she was born this way, the thought of her being in pain all this time and we didn’t know it absolutely kills me. After hours of tears and disbelief we met with the vet and discussed her options and decided we will first start with pain management, see where that takes us and get a consult with an orthopedic surgeon to discuss what can be done down the road as she is young right now.

So for the next 4 weeks she will be getting Adequan injections twice a week and the pain reliever Zubrin as needed. Then hopefully we will be able to space out the injections a little further and see how she does. A supplement called Dasuquin was suggested to us by a nurse in the office. It contains Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM so of course I scoured the internet and found some very promising information and stories. We are definitely going to try it and hope for the best. I also came across some success stories with the vitamin, Ester C. Something to think about and discuss with our vet, I guess.

In meantime we will be making sure Maggie’s weight stays where it should be, taking her on some easy walks and best of all she can swim all she wants. Unfortunately living in the northeast that only leaves us with a little more than a month before we have to close up the pool. And as for her aspirations to be a frisbee champion…that is totally out of the question, jumping is off limits for her.

Forgive me ~~Lord~~ furiends for my mom has sinned, it’s been a ~~gazillion~~ 3 months since my last blog….

Mom has been super ~~lazy~~ busy, what can I say?! It’s a tough job ~~floating around the pool with an umbrella drink in hand~~ taking care of all of us and working on her jewelry. Ya know what I say??? Excuses are like….you get the point!!! Humans, can’t live with ‘em and we sure can’t live without ‘em!!!

I guess our funniest (one of many, mind you) story is when I brought Sam to obedience. He failed it twice, just so you know. The first night we showed up it was like I had a rather large fish on the end of my leash - he was flopping and fighting and howling and carrying on so... I couldn't fill out the paperwork. Finally, a very drunk guy who was hanging out in the park came up and asked if I needed someone to hold my dog. I was so exasperated I said yes! Please! So I'm filling out the paperwork, and start to hear all this laughing. I turn around and the guy is flat on the ground. He stands up, and Sam pulls him the other way and knocks him down. This went on for a good couple of rounds before I was done with my paperwork. You would never know that the extremely good dog I have now was such a menace in his puppy days!

What? What's in my mouth you ask?! Well why don't you guess! Oh forget it, I'm a puppy I have no patience...no it's not a cigar, nooo it's not a "baby ruth"!!! Although mom and dad have had to extricate a couple from my mouth from time to time, not the chocolate kind either...nope I like the real deal! Hey I'm not ashamed!!! You know the first part of taking care of a problem is admitting you have one, right?! I'm a dog, my name is Maggie and I'm a poopaholic. Ok, there I admit it. Phew, that felt great!!! Let the Fun Begin!!!!!!!!!

Well after 10 looooooong months (as mom would say), dad is going back to work on Monday!!!!First thing that came to my mind was "yes!!! back to the gourmet dog treats"!!! And then it hit me like a tons of bricks...for all you pups that have a master and then have someone that wishes she was your master, you know what this means!!! As soon as dad puts on his boots, grabs his lunch and the garage door shuts....let the good times roll!!!!

First on the list, take control of the couch and if mom comes near...just completely ignore her. This is going to be so good, Maggie has never seen or experienced what happens when dad leaves for work so this is all new to her!!! Boy is she in for a treat!! BOL!!!!

Next up, play some video games with Kailey before school and hopefully sneak in a few pieces of crust from her toast...she's a sucker for puppy dog eyes

And for some good measure...take the trash out.... ok, ok just had to sneak that one in there....dumb cat

I'll have to find some time to perform a "duckotomy", it's tough work but someone's gotta do it!!!

then I'll probably just stare out the window til I hear that garage door open and I'll put on my angel face for daddy...

This is my mom's sister-in-law's blog, she's pretty famous ya know!!! Anywho, mom has made a lot of her recipes and can I tell you that those were the best table scraps that have EVER passed my lips!!! Sorry mom, but I cannot tell a lie. This cookbook is all about make-ahead meals, so our humans can make all the meals ahead of time which will give them even more time to play with us, no excuses!!! Now why didn't I ever think of that!!! I know many of my bloggie furiends have other blogs that don't pertain to dogs, (gasp) I guess there is more to life than treats, belly rubs and digging so go hop on over and give her a visit, please be polite though...no barking, jumping, begging and of course please hold your pee!!! BOL!!!

Mom and I are pretty bummed out today...someone has been snooping on MY blog!!! Can you believe it? Do these people have nothing better to do with their time than to hack a blog that belongs to one of the nicest goldens in the world??? Mom hasn't been on the 'puter in over a week, so if there have been any comments left on your blogs with my name, they are NOT from me!!! GET A LIFE PEOPLE, better yet...get a REAL job!!!!!! Trust me, I know first hand...you don't want to upset my mom!! Well with that said, I hope everyone is having a better day than me.

I started this blog as a virtual photo/memory album for my two daughters. So when they grow up they can always have something to look back on and remember all the times we've shared with our dogs. What a shame it is that people don't have respect for that.
